3 seems to be the magic number for me. Had a great point and a double with each dog retrieving a bird. The chukars made me look bad after that. Got one more and had the opportunity to limit out. Oh well, there will be more for next week. The young dog (brown one) is in her second season and is really starting to put things together. Fun to watch the old one work and the young one learn.

My son and I have tried two times to chase those devil birds. The first time we found them but they flew when we got 250 yards from them and we could never find them again. The next time we found nothing. Lots of good exercise but nothing to show for it. Your young pup looks just like one we had growing up.

They say the first time you hunt chukars is for fun. Every time after that is for revenge.

We traveled about two hours to a spot we have done well at before, but there was so much more snow than usual. It was past knee deep in most spots, but we were there, it was 12 degrees, so why not. haha. We hunted the ridges where the snow was blown away, the dogs had a few birdie times and saw a few droppings but no birds. Good times anyway.

High Mountain Lake Backpacking Trip

This lake once had Golden Trout in it. We wanted to see if we could catch some or if they are still there. We only caught and saw Westlope Cutties. They are beautiful. It was a 4X4ish road going in. Very rocky, rough, long, dusty road to the trail head. It was Myself, my 3 Sons and my good friend Andy.

This is near Mt. Borah in Idaho.

Yes there is another letter in that name. haha

We made it, it was strenuous.

A few more pics, we were alone most of the time only seeing three people the entire trip.

We beat the heat and were pretty chilly until we changed into dry clothes, lit a fire and ate some food.

The next day started brisk, but ended sweaty after a long hike.

We saw a bunch of elk and some sage grouse! My boys are awesome.
