Container homes really only make sense if you have an ultra cheap source for said containers. That means living near a port city. I can buy them for about $1k each in Long Beach, but the fuel and time to bring them home doubles and even triples the cost.
Find someone who needs to ship a bunch of crap and let them pay to transport it here?

(2) 40' high cubes placed 40'- 50' apart, then stack a 53' high cube over each one. Leaves a 13' covered area under one for utilities and the other for a bathroom. All the containers remain tight and you have a nice high ceiling once you throw trusses up. That's always been what I've thought I'd do if containers every get down to the $1-1.5k range here in land locked Utah.
