So just before EJS i bought a AMC360 that the guy told me had been rebuilt. I was in a hurry and gave him the $1200 and he told me he would hold it until I got back...

Well I got the engine home and started to tear it down. I pulled the spark plugs and they where all black as night. Once I got the intake off the windage tray had so much red RTV on it I know there was going to be trouble. In fact one of the water ports was completely filled in with RTV.

I got the first head off and almost started crying.. the water jackets where all filled with crap. and the valves where just as black as the spark plugs.

The cylinders looked ok except the two on the passenger side back two (first picture of the cylinders) that showed rust. There was no ridge on the top of the cylinders but no cross pattern on the walls. The lifters all looked good with no wear on them and the cam from what I see looks good. The crank does turn and everything did look ok but looks like I need to take it to a machine shop and have it checked out.

anyone know a good machine shop in davis county?

I don’t know a machine shop in Davis county. But I can’t say enough good things about cleggs engine and machine in Orem. Very happy with the work they did on my 6.0 and duramax heads in the past. Worth the trek in my opinion
