We went for a Sunday drive up to Glade Park and the National Forest above. We've had a few inches of snow fall in the Valley over the weekend and heard that the higher elevations of Glade Park had a good amount. We decided to head up there and check it out, who doesn't love snow wheelin!? So we headed out on our own to some remote mountains with an unknown amount of snow... sounds like a great idea to me! :D

We made it to 9,500 feet elevation and decided to air down. We passed one Jeep on 37's that had been breaking trail, then found where they turned around. We aired down there, because the tires at 35 PSI weren't doing to well. After dropping the pressure down to 8 PSI, we had all the traction we could handle. We kept going beyond where they turned back, the Land Cruisers weight must have been a bonus because we kept moving without any trouble. The snow was over 24" deep and there were more than a few times that we were pushing snow. At times it would blow up over the hood and onto the windshield!

Little video... this wasn't the deepest spot, we had descended quite a ways before we thought about shooting a video. It was pretty cool to see the 'wake' of powder being made as we drove thru, so we thought we'd try make a video that we could share. Honestly where the snow was the deepest, we were more concerned with maintaining forward progress! This portion of the road had already been driven by another 4x4, so it wasn't quite as fun as when we were breaking trail. Even then, there were more than a few drifts that we bashed thru, covering the windshield until the wipers cleared off the snow. It was too much fun!

Snow wheeling is one of my favorite kinds of wheeling to do. It usually demands very little in clean up and is easy on parts. Land Cruisers and snow just go hand in hand. The folks in Iceland use a lot of Cruisers for their expedition rigs. I think your BFG All Terrains had a lot to do with your rigs ability. Great snow tires!
