I've only sat in one Corvette, a totally awesome 64. That probably tainted me against the later models. They've never been on my bucket list, but the new one does look cool going down the road. That kind of car just isn't my style, but the earlier models like Dempsey just picked up could be a lot of fun to play with for a while. Performance versus price, and all that.

That 3.8L turbo V6 was such a cool engine. And in a firechicken, I'm sure that would have been a hoot. Too bad it can only turn left... :D

I think it was rated at 275 or 280 hp :D Fast car for it's day.

GN cars can run into the 8's. That kind of power/torque would rip the car in half especially with the T-tops. That'd be a fun car. I'd need a Winger tour shirt, some Converse Cons (not tied of course) and some OP shorts.

The undisputed coolest Indy Pace Car of all time was the Renault 5 Turbo II for the 1982 season, of course.

Definitely, definitely
Renault had plans to take the Turbo road racing in the FIA Group A touring car series after it's successes in Group B rallying, and the pace car was essentially a concept for that project. 1.4L Turbocharged I4 with 345hp in a vehicle weighing 2200lb's and a 40/60 weight distribution. Man, that thing must have been insanely fun to drive on track. Looks amazing too.
Its a shame Renault ultimately abandoned their touring car plans and instead focused on F1.
