Trying the new lense Tamron 150-600

After spending the morning fishing at Flaming Gorge:

Decided to take advantage of the easy to locate wildlife and spend an hour or so playing with my new Tamron 150-600.

Here are a few of the results:

These mallards where 150 yards or so out, geese a little closer:

Next some longer distance pronghorn shots. I must admit guessing distance on pronghorn is not my strength. I estimated these guys at roughly 300 yards (I tend to under estimate in general.) Pretty happy with the detail once done cropping.

For comparison, first of the uncropped is at 150mm, second 600(full zoom)

Last two are closed shots of another 'lope.

Over all pretty happy with results since first time using the lens. All where taken free hand, standing (did a couple kneeling shots but no noticeable difference in clarity.) Still may look into a monopod for low light work.

Was able to try some action shots at the state track championships last weekend.

At times focusing was a little tricky, most with pole vaulting, but overall was very happy with the performance of the lens.

Few examples below:

Looks great.
I have telephoto and a wide angle lenses that came with my camera that I haven't even used yet. Need to put those to work.
Love the looks on people's faces during competition.

Thanks!

Facial expressions is one of the funnest parts of sports photography- loved being able to get close ups with the new lens.
