Vintage camping gear

I picked up a vintage backpacking tent this weekend. I was told that he paid about $400 for it in 1979, it is a Gortex then with fiberglass poles. I set it up without tent pegs or lines out just to see it. I haven’t been able to find this exact tent on line. Anyone have any vintage gear they like to use? I’m pretty stoked to use this next year, I’m going to rehab it in the spring and put it to use.

It is a Early Winters Winterlight tent.

I’m pretty damn old and I was 6 when this tent was made. That’s about all I have found on it, I have seen a couple sale ads for it that were 10 or so years old. The cool thing is this is a tent that weighs 4.5lbs that is 40 years old and is waterproof...ish

The only two pieces of sorta vintage gear that I can think of that I use are my stove stand - which I've had, lessee, since 1981, and my tent heater which I have had since about 1985 or so. My tent and my camp chairs are only 20 years old . Sleeping bag is brand new though, the 20 year old one finally had the zipper crap out about a month ago. I just bought the same fairly cheap canvas cover/flannel lined one again, if it lasts as long as the last one I'll never need another.

Pics with the stove stand in them. Coleman brand. Dad gave it to me when I was 17. Don't think I have any pics of the heater, but it's a Mr. Heater I bought sometime in the mid 80's.

I have an Early Winters Silver Lining sleeping bag that was owned by my uncle who was killed on a motorcycle in the early 80's (before I was born). I'm not sure when he bought it but I think it sat in my grandparents attic from when he died until about 8 years ago when my grandma gave it to me. I use it regularly.

My thoughts exactly! Almost as bad as hearing songs that came out after I graduated high school on "oldies" stations.

I was born in 1979, anything older than me I consider vintage. That's a cool tent.
