I took down my Christmas lights. The wind made that exciting.
Also uncovered my trailer since I had to move it to put my Jeep next to it. It made me sad. Poor Jeep has always been good to me and gave me 2 national championships and now she’s under a tarp so I have the room to build a buggy.

My neighbor hit me up Saturday morning and asked if I could repair a bracket that broke off of his tow behind aerator.

Not much penetration going on here.

I knocked down the failed weld.

I placed a .750” piece of O1 drill rod to align for welding.

Next item of the agenda for Saturday, and to answer glockman's question as to what's next on the WJ project, was to build the rock sliders.

Bent some 1.5” x .083” tubing.

Before closing up the shop we mocked up the Mac’s Black Box in the back to locate for mounting. We opted to shift it to the passenger's side so we can create a void on the driver's side for storage and yet still allow mounting of the Powertank nearly vertical on the driver's side just above the floor.

I finished up my T case shifters, I am running a flipped dana 300. In order to be able to shift off the back side of the case. I machined the case out to accept a shift rail seal and then drilled and tapped the shift rails to accept a heim. Over all its a very simple setup.

Mike, like the hold down finger in the above pic, can you post a better pic and explanation of how you built it, or what is is made from?

Thanks,

Thank you.

The welder's helper serves two basic functions. First for small pieces it aids in holding them in place for tacking and secondly I have the ends of mine welded with some silicone bronze to aid in conductivity. For those odd to ground parts or such as in this instance the part was still painted and therefore wouldn't ground through the fab table, I used the finger to make my ground connection between the part and the table.

As for what it is constructed of, the weight is an old wrist pin from a Cummins N14 rebuild from many years ago and then I just used some 3/8" O1 drill rod for the feet and finger which I added silicone bronze to.

Cool! Are you not shifting from the front of the case due to ergonomics? Driveline clearance? Is the shifter mount on the back of the case welded to the front output rear bearing retainer?
