its all about how many pixles are in a given area. dpi is pixles per inch. thats why when you change to 300 dpi the pixle count goes up without changing the dimentions of the picture. But if the pixles change alone the picturte changes size also.you can always make less dots or pixles, 300 to 75 dpi no problem. the puter just meshes em together. but to go the opposite you still have a gap between the dots with nothing to fill with, its just splitting the dots that already existed into smaller dots, not adding more.
