Anyone have an Android TV?

I have questions for you, if you own one of these things. Can you download/install the AT&T Sportsnet app from Google Play on it?

To sum up my issues....I want to be able to watch the Utah Jazz games. I can't find a reasonable way to do that. I don't want to spend $90/month on DirecTV. The only way I've found to watch them, is through the above-mentioned app on a phone or tablet. My HOPE is that an Android TV will essentially be like a big tablet, running the same app. Can anyone confirm/deny?

From what I’ve discovered so far this year is that ATT will not stream .... if you figure out differently, please post up. I’m about to buy hehestreams.com but I’m not sure

It won't stream on a PC. It will start, but quit after 30 seconds or so. It will stream fine on a tablet/phone, but it won't let you cast it to a TV. (just goes black screen...I can hear the sound but not the video) I would like to watch it on a somewhat larger screen if possible. :)

I really hate how locked-down it is, trying to watch these games. We bought the NBA Team Pass last year, but that is completely useless since they "black out" locals from watching. Bought a VPN subscription to try to hide our location and get around that, but it still failed due to location, somehow.

THE ONLY way I've been able to watch on a big screen is via some sketchy streaming sites. They seem to come and go as they get shut down. Since I believe they're sketchy, I only tried them using a chromebook. But that device has now died....

Not even with a USB to HDMI cable? My wife just bought one hoping to play stuff from her phone on the TV, she's gonna be mad if that doesn't work.
I looked into that, apparently my phone doesn't support that. (Motorola Moto G Power)

I recall not being able to throw the ATT Sports Net app to the Chromecast. I do not recall if I ever found a solution, but I'm not often home from work in time to see Jazz games anyway.

If you text me after about 630 tonight, I can try it again for certainty's sake.

I'd be willing to bet some nerd somewhere has hacked into the code/permissions on a phone and allowed the app to cast to a compatible device.

That's correct, cannot cast the app. That's why I'm wondering if an Android TV will run that same app with no casting.

If she has a Samsung or Apple and got the right adapter, she will be able to play some apps on the TV. Other apps, usually the sports apps, restrict casting even with a hard wire connection to the TV.

I'm streaming tonights game via hehestreams free trial. So far it looks great....if it keeps up I'll pay for a year. It's cheaper than a new TV, and probably works better than AT&T's app anyway. :)

NBA time is just about upon us again.... hehestreams worked well last season, but doesn't appear to exist anymore. 😬
Anyone have any leads in how I can watch these things?
