I'm pretty interested in this show. Not in SLC unfortunately. Denver (Morrison, CO--Aug 11---southwest Denver) is a quick flight (maybe I can make that a work trip?) and keeps me away from Vegas in Aug. Ridgefield, WA (Aug 14) is just the other side of the Columbia from Portland, OR, so that could work also. Big question is how much is a ticket going to run?

Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Sammy Hagar is embarking on the long-awaited “The Best Of All Worlds” 2024 tour. Hagar will be joined by rock heavyweights and longtime bandmates Michael Anthony (bass, backing vocals),Jason Bonham (drums) and revealed on Nov 14 on SiriusXM‘s “The Howard Stern Show” that Joe Satriani, one of the best guitar players in the world, will complete the band.

Produced by Live Nation and featuring special guests LOVERBOY, the 28-date tour will commence on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida and will conclude on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri. Pre-sales begin on Wednesday, November 15 at 10 a.m. General on-sale begins Friday, November 17 at 10 a.m. local. For tickets and more details, go to RedRocker.com.

“We’re gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog,” Hagar told “The Howard Stern Show”. “If you’re gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog, you need Joe Satriani.”

Although Hagar and Anthony normally play five or six VAN HALEN songs” on the road with THE CIRCLE, Sammy told Stern they are planning to only play “five or six of my songs” alongside VAN HALEN classics and deep cuts.

“When we go out next year in July, it will be almost exactly 20 years since Mike and I did a reunion with Ed [Eddie Van Halen] and Al [Alex Van Halen] in ’04,” Hagar said. “Mike and I just said, ‘We can’t wait another 20 years. How long can I even sing these songs? How long can I do this stuff? I just thought it’s time to serve the fans.”

“There’s stuff we’re going to do on this next tour that we haven’t played since that tour in 2004,” Anthony added.

Regarding the challenge of learning legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen‘s parts, Satriani said: “There are things that are so iconic, you have to nail it. But if you go deep with what he did live, he never played the same thing twice. He kept evolving; he kept pushing. He’d do the recorded version a little bit, but then he moved on.

“It’s a daunting task when you do the deep dive into what he did,” he continued. “But it’s good to start at the beginning, and then you just learn all his little improvs and you get the idea of what he was trying to do. It’s thrilling; it’s fun.”

I wont pay that much to see anyone. Especially having to add travel to it. I've been debating seeing Steve Vai and Joe Satriani here at the Eccles in May. I've seen Vai on his own and have always wanted to see Satriani. So, to see both if them together... Cheap seats are about $90 + fees. I'm probably too cheap to go to that one and I used to go to a lot of concerts. $300 concert tickets takes all the fun out of it for me.

Same, I've not paid more than $100 for a seat. I'm sure the show will sell out. I'm just too cheap to do it

Last couple of shows I've been to were ~$500 a seat. I didn't pay for them...

Never was much into Van Hagar. Too bubble gum. I like Van Halen. And I like Montrose. And I liked some of Sammy's previous solo stuff. But Van Hagar just gets a big "turn the channel" from me. Nothing wrong with it, just to plastic/corporate/packaged/smooth. Just never cared for any of it.

I'm kind of the opposite on the VH spectrum (although there are some exceptions with the David Lee Roth era VH songs) and don't care for some of the early stuff. Tough to beat 1984 album in some ways but Diver Down (even with the covers) is pretty awesome and the debut album is pretty exceptional. I think of them as two different bands. I like a LOT of the Sammy Hagar stuff from the pre VH era. REALLY like the Balance album as a whole, but when we thought of VH as "dead" and the first album with Sammy is pretty strong with 5150, I'm pretty sold.

I'm with @DAA
Always was a Sammy fan but my preference is with David Lee Roth, especially pre 1984. Not to say I don't like VH with Sammy. I do and saw them in concert 4 or 5 times. However, put DLR's first soli album up against 5150 and DLR wins for me.

Pre 1984 is right. Eddie playing keyboard didn't do a thing for me. Actually don't like that album at all. Jump was a puker.

And, speaking of ticket prices... I still remember the first time I saw Van Halen, being outraged at paying $12 a ticket. Nobody had ever charged more than $8 for the Salt Palace before that and $12 just seemed crazy.

Compare that to... My Daughter bought tickets months ago for me and her to be in the pit for a Zach Bryan show that won't happen until next December and paid almost $500 each for them. She tells me those tickets are going for almost $1,000 now and she thinks they'll be closer to $2,000 EACH, by show time over a year from now. INSANE.

The 4 song one with California Girls (great cover for sure --- video is excellent as well, at least in my memory). ???

Just a Gigalo and a couple other songs?

That's right. I forgot about that one.
If you haven't listened to Eat em and Smile, you should. That's the one I'm talking about.

That wasn't bad but to me, 5150 is many tiers above that one. I'm 99% sure I had the Eat em and Smile cassette in my '82 Z28. I think I seeing Dave as a solo act act and wishing Poison was still on stage taints my DLR perspective?
