hydro assist set up

i just installed a hydro assist set up on my scout. the problem is it doesn't like to turn and shakes the steering wheel violently ? any help is appreciated

sounds like you got air in there.. did you get all of the bubbles bled out of the system?

Raise the tires off the ground, open up your fluid reservoir and steer slowing lock to lock with the engine off. You will get air coming up and out every so often. Keep steering until you feel like it might all be out.

swapped hoses and nothing. but back how it was and still shakes like hell. and now the pump and hoses are super hot ? could it be the pump ?

You might go back to the drawing board, unhook your hydro assist and try it then.

Is the box tapped correctly? Ram move freely with the fluid ports open?

un hook the ram from the axle and turn the wheel. See if the ram is moving in the right direction.

The shaking stil sounds like air. Its messy but I just cracked the lines open at the ram and turned the wheel a little bit. Kind of like bleeding brakes. That method worked for me.

looks like the damn hose is leaking in air the flare on the connection is cracked to ****. brand new hose !!!

I cracked two ends on mine, I just overtightened them. Just go snug.

Sure, its possible that you have a bad fitting, but those "flared" parts within the fittings can crack if over-tightened. Just an "FYI" yo...

If you think the box may be tapped wrong, post up some detailed pics of the box/fitting locations.

Oops! I didn't see your post prior to posting the same basic thing... Many of us have done this, as it doesn't take much to overtighten them.

went and got a new hose. i will bleed it again tomorrow. and yes i did over tighten it lesson learned i guess
