Pretty sure most of us are itching to get out and do some wheeling... and in fact the snow wheeling was absolutely awesome up snakes last weekend!!! I bet there was 15 rigs all out having fun in the snow. It was actually really nice out, my records indicated that it hit 40 late in the day out at 5 mile pass... snow flurries for about 45min in the beginning then sun rays filled the canyon.
Conditions of the terrain were awesome, just enough snow to keep the ground covered so there was not much mud at all (accept at WW)... I was thinking it would be a sloppy/mucky mess, but I was super glad to have the snow. Starting up snakes the beginning proved to be quite the fun challenge. The first few bouldery sections were really awesome and quite fun giving everyone a big smile and a decent challenge. The 1st boulder garden on the right claimed one of my maxxis beads so we got it fill with air again and headed on our way. At the first huge boulder on the left the yj juggy I was with rolled, but with a quick strap we were on our way again. The rest of rattle snake was fun and the RPM's started revving as we climbed the tailings piles!!!
Now at waynes world it was quite the show... being super wet and muddy from multiple groups before us we did the best we could considering none of us wanted to breakdown catastrophically in the cold. My buddy Jeff in his Juggy made it up after several hard attempts and blowing a rear bead... My buddy Brandon in his runner gave us a good show by rolling on the driver’s side (but saving the go pro). I made it up the first section, but was denied on the upper portion as I slid back to the bottom after a couple min of a rear steer show and smoking the tires!!! SUPER FUN TIME.
We did run constrictor and ended up having one additional roll on the side and a sliced tire... We managed to make it up past radiator rapids then decided to turn and around to check out the sunset for the decent of the canyon!
Met lots of cool people, saw lots of cool rigs (CJ5 DIESEL!!!) and actually stayed warm the whole day!!!
If you were there post up and let everyone know what you thought of the run...
