ARB twin compressor troubleshooting

I have the ARB twin compressor under the passenger seat in my 2021 JT. It's never really performed as expected. I decided to figure out why. Had to remove the seat. 17083747904155858748889209461138.jpg

And just place it forward as that gives me access I need and I can just place everything back into place.17083748591993927982995820732474.jpg

Given the amount of dust in/around the compressor, I'm wondering if that side sucked a bunch of dirt? What did the back of the filter look like? Did it ever get filters serviced? The piston rings look quite chewed up. All that is included with a the service part compressor assembly but if the opposite side is also full of dust, it's likely half out the door too. The filters do need to be occasionally cleaned, particularly if they are in a stuffy place like under a seat.

I'd start with whomever the compressor came from, they may have the ability to get you taken care of on a customer satisfaction warranty if it's only a handful of years old.

It's fairly old (8-10 years) and I bought it then off of KSL.com. It does like there was some debris sucked into the bore. At one point it was in my other Jeep and I found a filter on the floor. I'm SURE I'm the issue, not likely the compressor.1708379260345911308207440438000.jpg

That single RDCKA compressor is a much older design, like 20+ years old. It shares very little with the newer CKMA12 and CKMTA12 (twin) compressors. We have some parts motors here that likely have better pistons than yours. They've changed the piston design and bearing/bolt size a bit too, yours looks like the older version.

Too late to run down today as I'm sure I wouldn't get there by 5:30. This week is kind of fragged like my bearing. As you mention, I think the only thing that MIGHT interchange would be the pressure switch. VERY little even similar.

Edit: maybe I'll set my computer to Mtn Time. I'll be to CruiserOutfitters shortly.

Might throw in a new pressure switch while you’re there, and a cooling fan.
Mine started leaking recently out of a pressure relief on one side…. I put a pressure gauge on the output and found the cutoff at 230psi 😳 (should’ve been 150). Also I realized I didn’t ever remember hearing the fan run constantly like on other people’s, checked it and found it locked up… perhaps why my pressure switch failed. Anyway, cheap to replace and all good now 👍🏼

*added for reference: the fan is 80mmx80mmx25mm I got this one and it’s working well so far, more cfm than the oe one too.
