2016 bag night challenge

I'll play........we usually spend between 25-30 weekends a year in our trailer between racing and camping. In fact we use it so much that I had to replace all 6 tires after 1 year of use and rebuild the suspension after 3 years of use. Last year I winterized our trailer the first week of December and took it out for the first time this year the middle of February.

Now that sounds like a fun trip! How did the kiddo do in the car for all those miles?

He will now associate the car seat with sorrow and dispair. lol. He did alright in the middle of the trip with the shorter drive times between camps but the first two days with 5+ hours driving were hard on him. I ended up driving the whole way home Sunday from Corvallis. We stopped every 2-3 hours until about 9pm when I just stopped for fuel and to pee and pulled into the driveway Monday at 330 am, that was tough for me though because I don't do well staying up at night. Had I started to nod off I would have stopped but fresh picked blueberries and some podcasts I had downloaded kept me awake. During the day Sunday we found some parks (Bend and Burns Oregon) to let him get the wiggles out and he did really well.

Overall the trip was a good one but could have been better had the little guy been able to walk, he's almost there but is a month or two away from it I'd guess. (He's about 10.5 months old.) I posted a few pics up on my instagram (nnnnnateroper) of the little guy and our great dane on the beach and in the redwoods having fun. Really though we camped so we could take our dog to the ocean before hes gone, hes getting up there and has started to slow down a lot so its good we were able to do this trip now.

How did the wife like the RTT?

Uh, she stayed home. I had planned to take the little guy but he had had a fever earlier in the week so she didn't want me to take him either. My parents and siblings were all there though.

The rtt isn't too get my wife to go camping with me. It's too make setup a bit easier when I've got my son (among other things...)

Not keeping track, and actually prefer not to (I did for a couple years), but it's been a pretty good year so far for bag nights. I know I had 12 of them this spring just backpacking Cedar Mesa/Grand Gulch alone. Did some multi night winter trips (coyote hunting) in Jan. too. Had 6 nights in Yellowstone last week. Have done The Maze, Bruneau, Jarbidge and others in between. Would guess I'm somewhere around 35 for the year so far, with at least 20 already scheduled in the fall. Should end up well over 60 this year.

Fantastic experience, except for the one leader who decided to bring his Bluetooth speaker and play music the entire hike botg days, and even a little at night when we wernt to bed and even at night before bed. Not the best way to teach kids to camp, but oh well.

I spent the weekend at my uncles property up in the mountains above Hoback junction in Wyoming. It got down below 20 degrees both nights!! I've never seen such bright starry nights as those two.

4pm yesterday the girls got home from running errands and asked me to take them camping. A lesser man may have thought it was too late in the evening to pack, pick a destination, fuel up, and get there before bed time, but I can't say no to my girls. We decided to get a great view of the sunset, and the meteor shower which made an easy choice of Simpson Springs. This morning we headed out to Fish Springs and soaked up plenty of sun.

I'd like to get to 30 but coming down the stretch is going to be difficult, I've just about used all of my PTO for the year. I may get a night or two over labor day and the WC Moab trip in October should net me a few more but other than that I'm not sure when else I'll be able to go out.
