2nd Gen Dodge On Board Air

Well, I finally came home from deployment. I walked into my apartment/house and there was a pile of parts awaiting my arrival. So the first thing I did was pull the truck out of storage and start tearing her apart...again

.

So, along with all my other goodies I decided to pick up a York compressor for onboard air. I had already been running a rotary style "ac" compressor but I had to oil it before every use and I run an ARB up front so it was killing the compressor. Therefore, running lines, switches and all the other bs is already done. I have a 10 gallon tank under the bed and two ports one front and one rear. Again, I also use this for my air locker.

I decided that my rigged up hack job bracket for my old compressor just would not do. I ended up on Kilby's website and decided I would build something like that for 1/4 of the price. I did buy a alternator serp/v-belt pulley and two fittings for the inlet/outlet ports for the compressor from their website ($64). I picked up the rebuilt York 210 compressor off of ebay for $150 with a brand new clutch. I have a weld shop at work so I stole some 1/8 inch plate from them for free.

I first used carboard to mock up the bracket design. I don't have a plasma cutter so again, I just took it to the weld shop at work and they cut it for me real quick. The kid didn't have a steady hand so I ended up grinding and fixing it for about an hour

. Lots of measuring and grinding but I wanted to take my time and make it look good. Here is what I have so far.

I'm a little farther than the pics but I'll take some more tomorrow or the next day. I'm in the middle of throwing a detroit in the rear w/yukon chromo axles too. Which I should be finishing up tomorrow.

x2, thank you for your service. I love your enthusiasm to just dig right in when you get back. Are you in CA or Utah now?

Still in Cali. I love working on my truck. I have a buddy that thinks I'm crazy because it is great on the trail as is and he doesn't understand why I keep doing upgrades lol. I just love wrenching and fabbing stuff. I would buy another project but a house is next and my career is in question so house is a no-go. Anyways...update!

Finished except for fittings and I'm going to add a manifold on the inner fender well.

Here's some other stuff I was doing at the same time.:D

Dana 60 rear I installed a Detroit locker w/Solid diff cover and Yukon Chromo axles. Long story short, I was originally going to put a Spartan Locker in but I failed to do more research and I didn't know they won't work with Limited Slip Carriers. So instead of paying for a new non-slip type carrier I bought a Detroit and returned the Spartan. Detroit came in, went to install it, backlash was crazy tight. So tight that the left cap would not even seat. I had a conversation with the guy about the Spartan and thought he would have realized that I had "thick" 4.56 gears. Meaning not original. So I ended up wasting 3 hours in the dirt under my truck. 2 days later, right locker came in. Had it installed in about an hour. Only had to pull carrier once to take a .018 shim and switch it from side to side to correct the backlash.

Also finished my seat brackets today. I ended up with some Corbeau seats and reused my rails. Finished the brackets but I couldn't use my 110 Lincoln so I got a chance to use my new toy! Along with all the other parts craziness I somehow managed to pick up a Ready Welder II for $260. Works amazing! Great welds! I run a dual battery kit on my ram with a Painless Wiring Solenoid so it made it really easy. Anyways, seats are mounted for good.

Just like the other two, thanks for your service. I got a buddy that just got recently stationed at Pendleton, Willie fugere, not sure if you might know him. I'm thinking about doing a York soon, gonna see what I can find at the junkyard next time I go.

Very nice. I am currently deployed and I have been having stuff shipped home. Can't wait to get home and play with them all.
