Does anybody have suggestions on what would make a my 4.3 tbi flood until the engine warms up? The only way this thing will start is if I unplug both injectors, let it almost die, plug one in, open throttle, plug in the other one, then hold throttle open for about 3 minutes. After all that and the engine warms up it runs ok. any help?

what year 4.3? i know my 94 blazer witch had what they call the spider injection ( because the EFI looked like a spider ) would leak fuel and it would puddle on the top of the intake and flood the motor when i would try to start.

i called the dealler and they wanted close to 500 for the part alone and warned me not to do it because it was such a PIA. i called NAPA got the part for 210.00 and it only took an hour to install.

agin this was on the 94-95 witch is had the spider injection, not saying this is your problem but it was big time problem for me.

tbi systems are still efi. tbi is just referring where the injectors are located. if it is doing this while the motor is cold and corrects itself when the engine is warm than the first thing i would check is the temp sensor for the fuel injection system. make sure it is not the one that is for the temp gauge but the one that returns to the computer. this sensor is really important. this may only be the case as long as it is really running correctly when it is warm and not just seeming to run correct. i would inspect the wires and maybe replace the sensor. also the sensor needs to be located in a place that constantly has water flow and always before the thermostat for it to give a proper reading. also by disconnecting one of the the injectors while the motor is running will only boost the fuel output of the other injector because the o2 sensor is going to detect a leaner air/fuel mixture. the o2 sensor may be another one to check. make sure it installed in the straight up to sideways position and not facing down at all.
