I have a new Trooper :D

Hello all!

So today I got to finally put my new Trooper through its paces, out at 5 mile pass. The origional plan was to run the rattlesnakes trail, but in trying to find the trail head, I managed to get lost. As the last two times that I was out there, it was well past 9 pm. So trying to recognize familiar landmarks was not the easiest of things to do. I'm for sure going to make sure that I pay attention to where I'm going the next time I go out with a group. But it was fun driving around, and making the wife grip the grab handles for dear life! :greg:

Anyway, on to the photos!

this was at the top of some random steep hill that my wife asked me to go up, just because she was feeling adventurous.

this was the first "big scare" that my wife got (I'll be honest, in trying to find the right line, I was a little worried I'd cut up my tires, or damage my under carriage as I don't yet have armor like I though I had). But we made it up and over without issue, mainly becaues we were in 4 low.

A nice pano of the landscaping.

Kind of a crappy sunset shot, but I had to get at least one in!

This was as we were coming back down, when the wife pointed out an odd cement structure on top of a hill. So we went up, and found this mine shaft (no it's not the one with the jeep at the bottom, that's the one we were trying to find though). It was shortly after this that we decided to go up the hill along a poorly defined road (if I remember correctly, it was the same one that Sixstringsteve tried going up a few years back in his Zuki Sidekick but wasnt able to due to the mud).

I didn't manage to get a pic of the hill climb after the mine shaft, but I will say that I myself was getting super worried about a roll over. It also didn't help that I am currently running street tires, at street pressure :-\:cool:. But with a little bit of goosing the accelerator pedal, careful driving, and a hell of a lot of faith in the 4 low of my transfer case, we managed to get up to the top of the hill with little to no resistance (aside from the junipers protesting our presence with a little bit of Rocky Mountain Pin-Striping :p:greg:).

This was on the way back down the hill, I actually scouted this one out before hand to make sure that I would feel more comfortable going down than I did going up that other trail.

Eventually we made it back to the parking lot for a bathroom break before heading home.

Cheers!!:greg::D:)
