Cruiser
look what i can do!!
This is the cruiser of broken dreams, it came to me through a friend and it was clear when I purchased it that someone had cared for it very much. It was clearly someone’s dream that never got completed. There were lots of new Toyota parts as well as a tremendous amount of time and money that had gone in to the project.
The tub and sheet metal: The entire tub has been rhino lined in and out and has been re-skinned with dual gas doors. It has a custom cage integrated into the dash as well as custom seat cradle. I have had all the other sheet metal sand blasted by Armor Coatings and primed. There was some body work done but nothing major, mainly filling in pitting from corrosion and a few small dents. The fenders are the exception having typical rust behind the main supports which I cut out and replaced with new steel. All of the fender seams were saturated in a surface prep containing phosphoric acid converting rust from ferrous iron to iron phosphate, this prepares the metal surface for paint or auto body filler to achieve maximum adhesion.
The frame (1977) is really clean and had been coated with por15 at some point and corrosion almost none at best.
The (1977) 2F, Disc Brake, 4spd running gear is clean and in nice shape. Other than a few gaskets it should be ready to go. The motor: I installed a new aftermarket carb, and Aisin fuel pump and new coil. It could use a gasket or two and a valve adjustment but otherwise fires right up and runs well with good oil pressure. Trans, t-case, axels are in working order and again could use some seals.
This is a project I never intended to own or spend any time on however I am enjoying it while it’s mine. It is at the point where it can be painted any color and I would rather have someone else have the opportunity customize it to their taste rather than I finish it to my preference. This is a great project for a father and son to assemble together. All of the hard work is done, and need to be assembled.
I have most of the parts to complete it minus seats, side steps and a few other small parts. I also have some spare stuff including really clean spare trans/t-case, record radiator, etc. Have New Toyota shocks for all corners.
I have a clean title.
