85 4rnr with supra problems????

Im looking for some ideas, i have an 85 4 runner with a 7m-ge motor in it. It s always ran like a champ. Last week after driving out to The City of Rocks and back to Logan it started cutting out when its above 3000 rpms. I checked the fuel pump and changed the fuel filter. It idles perfect. I think it might be a lack of fuel or an ignition advance problem. It uses a traditional cap and rotor set up. Does any one have any ideas??

Just a stab...check your oil sending unit, if it's malfunctioning it can tell your fuel system to cut fuel to the motor thus avoiding damage. My chev just had this problem.
