So my bro in law just bought a stock (no lift) yj with the 4cyl. manual tranny. The problem is it wont go into fifth gear... It sounds like it just isnt engaging all the way. You hear a little grinding like it is starting to make contact with the gear, but nothing. I've heard it could be that the fifth gear itself has fallen out of place inside the tranny...
Any ideas???
I wonder if it would be easier to fix, or just replace with a used tranny somewhere.
