hey guys i need your help i test drove a 99 tacoma supercharged first of all the check engine light was on the dealership said it was on because they put a intake on it, about the supercharger when i let the truck ideal the boost gauge said the psi was at -20 and when i stepped on it would only go to 5 psi and stay there till i let off is this normal

First things first, if you have a check engine light on check it to see what it is. If you don't have a code reader, find someone who does, or ask the dealer what the code was and what it meant.
I don't know how much boost the Tacoma's are supposed to pull, but that sounds about right for our altitude assuming it's supposed to pull 6-7 psi normally and it was tuned at sea level. Boost pressure drops with altitude.
The -20 at idle is normal too, that shows the engine is running under vacuum instead of boost. You're not going to read boost unless you're on the gas and the supercharger is actually providing boost.
