a/c question

when i turn on my a/c i get a loud squeeling sound. it will shut off after a few minutes too after it gets cool. what is it? a/c compressor? or something else? im in no hurry to fix it but just wondering what it is.95 toyota tacoma.

I would guess its either your belt squealing when you put the extra load on it or your compressor...those are really the only miving parts in the a/c system...

if its my belt do i loosen it or tighten it or leave it be

Look under the hood while you have someone turn it on and off, you should be able to tell if it is a squeeling belt or if it is in the pump...

CAUTION:
keeps hands and hair out of moving parts while under the hood!
