Aluminium TIG repair?

So I decided a bit ago to repair and possibly ride or sell an old PK Ripper frame I have had in storage for some 25 years. I know there are a bunch of bike nuts on here so I was hoping somebody might have an idea on how to go about fixing the break.

It's a classic upper seat post clamp break, right on the upper cross tube.

I was thinking of doing what they did on the second generation frames kind of.

Was thinking of making something that sleeved over the upper tube and rear Y in some way then weld it all down. So what do you guys think would be the best way? Is there anybody on here that would be willing to try....lol?

I can order a length of 6061 T-6 and replace the entire tube. I just don't know if that is easier and better. I don't know how good aluminum is with rewelding and how much it will take away from the strength. That is my major concern going that route. Also going that route I would want to make a quick frame jig to keep everything in place while replacing the tube. I was thinking of a piece to sleeve over the upper tube and rear Y to get away from those problems.
