I hope everyone is taking this very seriously.

For those that have not heard, SUWA’s pet project and fundraising scheme is actually moving in the House of Representatives as H.R 1925. It goes before a subcommittee on Oct. 1st.

If you’re not familiar with this wilderness proposal, don’t take anyone’s word for what it says, go right to the source. Check out SUWA’s website www.suwa.org and look at the map they have right on the homepage. Look at your favorite area to visit in Utah and notice that most likely they intend for it to become designated wilderness. This bill would make 9.4 million acres or over 40% of all BLM land in Utah wilderness. At present there is about 3.2 million acres in WSA’s (Wilderness Study Areas) in Utah. Can you imagine three times that?

What can you do?

First of all call your Representatives. They are all opposed to this bill but we need to let them know just how strongly the majority of Utah residents oppose this.

Rep. Rob Bishop: 202-225-0453
Rep. Jim Matheson: 202-225-3011
Rep. Jason Chaffetz: 202-225-7751

Second join and donate to all of the organizations that are fighting this.
BRC, USA-All,
U4WDA etc.

Watch for alerts and updates. If you are asked to make calls, please do so.

If you have never been involved in a land use issue before, make sure you get in on this one. The very future of outdoor recreation in Utah depends on the outcome.

The U4WDA urges everyone that is interested in off road travel to contact their congressmen and let them know how this kind of legislation needs to be stopped. At this time it looks like we have no problem from our politicians but it never hurts to let your voice be heard and let them know we are out there.

This site has all of Utah's politicians.
