i have a 92 aw4 that was rebuilt how much fluid does it take dry any help would be awsome

4.8 quarts.

4.8 if only filter and drain,
7.4 for overhaul, WITH +/- dry converter

Use only Dextron/MerconIII, or what is it up to now V? ATF.

If it has been a complete overhaul, I would put in the 4.8, get it up to running temp, and check/add as needed.. You HATE to overfill the aw4....

Might take a bit......did you check it and make sure it was full with the motor running and the trans in neutral?

And did you get the computer harness plugged back into the trans?

i will crawl under it tonight and check the wiring any one got a stock front drive line ? and a trans dipstick tube

Kinda hard to put tranny fluid in without the tube... Can be done,, but,,
