That sucks!! Kinda like your own child stabbing you in the back!!

Personally I have all but given up on UROC. I am waiting to see we everything goes before I decide if/when to build a comp rig. I am hoping for good things from Rich and WEROC, and think with a little more structure, Prorock could be better....

You guys are awsome on this board. I'm going to see where this all shakes out. While I'm banned, you guys are not. Make some calls, check the forum and keep me posted on what's going on.

When I search their forum it only shows that one post of yours. Did you get banned from just that one post? or are there posts that have been deleted where you raised a ruckus? Your post about the rules suggestion is positive and offers good advice. There are other posts in there that are more abrasive than your post. If that is why you got banned it may be worth a call to a Petty to have them allow you back in. Even though you are not part of UROC you are probably one of their best assets still, as sad as that is.

And I am just seeing this as an outside spectator.

Craig - There is a post on UROC that was started by Mike Baer asking about why a thread of yours was deleted. SpaceGhost points out that your thread is where it belongs. Then andy (UROC staff) said that your account looks active (with a link that just goes to your profile). Looks like UROC thinks you are active, you may try it again.

They (UROC) have let me back in. I have put up a small post for anyone interested in their forum. In that post I have repeated my original statement without all the supporting reasons and information provided in the original post.

Although UROC was interested enough to take some censorship action based on my indescriminate use of personal cell phone numbers (of which I applogize for), the class may be so far gone that no one cares anymore. Another possibility is that the concept of freezing the class vehicle rules may be ahead of what most people are thinking.

I know that this forum is more open than the other forums available and has not been censored in anyway that I know of. With that in mind I would like to know the thoughts of the people on this forum about the UROC Modified Class as listed below:

1. Is the Modified Class still a viable class in UROC?

2. Does anybody care about trail class vehicles in competition?

3. Are Moonbuggies the future of the sport?

4. Will freezing the Modified class rules help the class?

5. Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Craig Stumph

#2 I do and I would really like to see this.

#3 yes more then likely, I enjoy the technology that is in them and respect it, but I can't relate to the budgets that are in them.

Depends on the mission of UROC. If their mission is to be only unlimited rigs with bigtime sponsers and vehicles that only wheeler's can relate to, then the modified class is not viable. However, if they are looking to be able to reach the masses and have big crowds at the events with vehicles that most anyone can relate to, then they must keep the modified class. This said, the modified class should reflect those vehicles that the average joe can relate to. Moonbuggies are not an 'average' vehicle

I personally like to see the trail rigs. Linda and Todd adams are really fun to watch. There are others out there whose rigs still closely resemble stock rigs. Watching these rigs that still resemble 'stock' rigs (at least in body shape and relative frame dimensions) actually make me want to compete, or at least build my rig to be able to handle the competition style courses. From watching those rigs, I get ideas on how to increase the capability of my own rig. Watching a buggy simply shows me what is possible with the right combination of sponsers, fab skills, time and money. Most of which I'll likely never have.

In some way, I do think they are part of the future. Give those people who have that combination of sponsers, fab skills, time and money an opportunity to show us what can be accomplished. I think the courses are going to have to change to accomodate both classes. In general, a rig built from a stock platform will have one heck of a time completing a course designed for a moonbuggy.

I think UROC does need to come up with a class definition that attempts to cover where the rules left off. If the class is based on stock rigs, then a certain amount of the stock vehicle needs to exist in the competition rig. I actually think they should re-consider allowing any frame mods between the rails. Make the team responsible for proving their rig conforms with the rules in the case of a dispute.

How come the comps aren't as much fun this year as they were last year?

They never let me in to begin with. Wonder why  We're tired of bad calls and traveling 12-14 hours to have an aggravating weekend. All the date changes sorta messed things up too. Things went downhill after you left Craig. I think we're done with UROC for this year. We're definately(spellcheck anyone?) done with Po-rock. Looks like the ROCK RACES are the only game we fit in. Avalanche Ranch, Moab next year(during Easter jeep) and maybe one in Colorado Springs.

NO CONES, NO POINTS... LOTSA LAUGHS

I'm done with UROC too after this year...but mostly due to focusing on driving in the Calrocs series...But since a few of you mentioned issue with Prorocks, I'd like to knwo what they are? I had planned to look at driving in the middle class for Prorock next year since they allow a modified rig but without the frame resrictions...I think they allow portal axles too. Anyways, what happend that was so bad?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, however, I still enjoy the UROC comps. They seem just like ARCA from 2001 that I competed in (are we going backwards).

I too am looking at the rock racing as an alternative. I'm up for the Moab one!!!

Craig, I'm glad your still behind UROC. UROC is going through, shall we say, change of comand pains. You are a great leader Craig, and took UROC to a outstanding level! The current Command is learning, and is doing better all the time I think. I hope you had a great weekend done there in Farmington, do to a family Emergency, I was unable to make it. What makes it tough is I'll be starting a new job on the 23rd. I must have put a 20 hours into the music for this event! LOL

I'll be at Cedar though!

As far as the Moon Buggies go, maybe a new class?

I work as webmaster for CalROCS and also am part-owner of Xtreme Offroad Magazine. I think there is so much chaos among drivers in UROC this year that I won't be surprised when many major drivers do not show up next year. I talk to drivers and companies like Rock Logic :) and Shaffers Offroad for a living and from what I hear people are just sick of it. We work side by side with CalROCS/WERock and proROCK and we're trying to work with UROC with no love so far, Dirt Sport Magazine is in with them though.

The future of this sport hinges on major out-of industry sponsors like Miller Lite, Coke, Pepsi and Viagra ;) and all of the promoters are working on this. With money will come technology and moon buggies will become the norm but we (as a community who loves this sport) need to fight for the stock mod class and in my opionion, fight indoor arena rockcrawls (icky, icky, icky!) Stock mod is the entry level that bridges extreme offroad trail rigs with rockcrawling and w/o this class, rockcrawling will totally break away from offroad like NASCAR has from local racing and the average joe will lose interest. I love watching moon buggies, Shannon Campbell has a sick rig but I also love to watch Meaghan Laurie or Jeff Mello get it on the rocks. My 2 cents....
