Went and bought a 2014 BMW F800gs. The only problem was that it was in Massachusetts. X-D

Left today to fly out to Boston, visit some friends and ride it back. Probably going to head north a bit first and see Nova Scotia & New Foundland. Then make the trek back west.

Walked all around down town Boston today. Where the Boston Tea party took place, Paul Revere church and house, went to where Cheers the TV show took place, saw the bridge from the Ben Affleck movie The Town had some great seafood.

Picked up the bike tonight. He lives on Cape Cod. Going to get the bike set up with my panniers tomorrow and explore the Cape.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
went to where Cheers the TV show took place,

Nice! I loved watching that show with my Dad on friday nights. Pretty sure it was the first "adult" show I watched, unless you count Full House.

My favorite line (that I remember):

Norm walks into the bar and Sam says, "Norm, what going on?"
He replies with, "forget about what's going on, let's talk about what's going in."

Did you visit the USS Constitution? That was a highlight of my recent East coast trip

Loaded up yesterday at my hotel. Flew out here with my pack and a box with my panniers.

The panniers are made by Mosko Moto and are phenomenal. Was able to install them in the parking lot. Only requires an Allen key to install them and the company provides them. They're universal so they'll fit most any set of racks. They have a beveled tray that bolts to your racks. Then the other tray has the opposite bevel. The tray is permanently attached to the panniers and they slide right into each other.

Decided not to explore the Cape and just head north. I'm headed back this way at the end of the week so maybe then.

Rode along coastal route 1 and saw the Hamptons and all the cool coastal towns. Tons of ridiculous homes right off the beach.

Crossed into Maine in the evening and Headed to Acadia National Park today.

Rained like crazy today and it really slowed me down. Got a hotel Just outside of Acadia and am going to dry out. The whole rest of the weekend is supposed to be dry and hot. Got to see the Bath shipyards where ship building in the US began.

Nice. I've been toying with the idea of an 800ST or GT, so I'd like to hear how you like that motor.

The bike and the motor seem great so far. It has plenty of power. Infact I haven't even had to pull it past 6k rpms yet (red line is 8500). No problem matching freeway traffic on an on ramp. Even in a higher gear.

When I was reading up on the bike there was a company that sells a "progammer" of sorts call AF-Xied that fools the 02 sensor a little. Ideally you want a tuner that alters spark timing in addition to fuel delivery. But everyone seems to rave about this on ADVrider. On top of a little more power, people claim it removes a little vibration from the motor and some low speed stumbling.

I also read that BMW runs the Rotax 800 powered bikes a little lean to keep power down. Supposedly the motor performs so well that they didnt want to take away any sales from their flagship 1200s. Who knows if thats true.

Ive taken Coastal Route 1 all the way to the border. Passing through all the towns is slow going and I'm not covering as much ground as I had hoped. It also rained pretty good one day and I found out what was waterproof and what isn't.

Acadia National park was awesome. Definitely coming back to explore it on foot.

Rode through New Brunswick Canada and down the coast of Nova Scotia and spent the night on the southern end.

I decided to save some time and miles by taking the ferry back across the Gulf of Maine to Portland, Maine.

Loaded on the ferry and there were 7 other Adventure bikes in 3 separate groups and they happened to be all BMW GSs
