Buffalo Mine, Alaska 2009

Buffalo Mine is about 60 miles outside of Anchorage, right before the town of Sutton. This trail is short but sweet. There are lots of good hill climbs, good mud sections when wet, and plenty of black bears (One of the heaviest bear baited areas in the state).

We run this trail pretty frequently because of how close it is to town, and short the entire trip can be (Baring any catastrophes, round trip can be 3 hrs or less).

Here are some pictures from this area from last year (HERE is the video, short and sweet as well.. some good lawn darting though...lol).

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
This makes me homesick. I grew up in AK. I left to go to school, got married and never made it back. I used to love the mud, but these days it seems like I'll drive a mile around a mud hole just to miss it. So I'm not sure I'm well suited for AK wheeling anyways. What can I say, I love the rocks of AZ and UT.

Welcome to the board.

PS. My first wheeling experiance was in a large gravel pit by the airport in Anchorage. I wonder if that's still around?
