Chevy 350 running HOT

Just wondering what might be causing this... thermostat? head gasket? what else? The coolant in the reservoir gets so hot that it starts boiling and coming out the vent in the reservoir lid... any suggestions??

Do you run aux. electric fans? has your motor been punched out? Are you using a four core high flow radiator or a horizontal vane aluminum radiator? flex fan? shroud? What. give us something to work with here.

Or what about a leak some where in the cooling system allowing the mix to boil over ie: possible bad rad cap,ect. Or maybe a water pump that is not flowing enough coolent.

Timing? If it's too retarded, it'll run hot.
