Closed knuckle Dana 44 question

Pulling apart my closed knuckle 44. Have the hub off but can get to the hub nut inside. How does this piece come off that is around the axle that is in front of the nut? Not even sure what it is called. First time pulling this apart.

This ring is a threaded nut. You need to spin it off, and then there should be a “locking” washer, and then another nut, and then your whole hub can be removed.

They make a fancy wrench to get it off, but honestly for this just take a punch and hammer to it to loosen it. (Put the punch tip in one of those holes at a sharp angle and then smack the punch with a hammer to break it loose)
