So ive got a Dell Inspiron 1501 and when i watch movies from my itunes, whether it be on itunes or quicktime the screen stops but u still here sound then the sound stops for maybe 10 sec the jumps 10 or 15 secs ahead and plays fine for a few minutes then does the same thing all over again. if that makes any sense?

ive tried adjusting my screen resolution but im no computer geek and it did nothing to help the problem. ive also defragged the hard drive. there are no viruses on my computer. also all my files are stored on a 1 Terabite external hard drive, ive tried transfering a file over to the laptops hard drive and it still does the same thing.

the video card is a ATI Radeon Xpress 1150

im kinda lost any help would be great

Thanks
Joel

It sounds like the video might be to high a resolution for the video card. I would try looking for a setting to turn down the quality of the video in the player or maybe increase the buffer size.

try using VLC, it has the code to sense when the GP is not able to hold it's own, and scale back the return rate of the video.
