I don't want to sound old but when I grew up
in Butlerville the area now called Sandy was
mostly sand dunes and 70th south was a dirt road
and wasatch blvd. went on from Little Cottonwood
to parleys canyon:-\

My parents built their house on the old Sky Ranch airport (117th So & 15th East)... it was dirt roads in to the area. I lived there up until two years ago.

Come out and help us get something done to keep at least the main roads open... we need help. Someone to take the reigns, someone to help us organize...

5/16/06 - I attended a city planning meeting at the Draper City Hall. There were several ATV enthusiasats, a couple of equestrian riders, a SL County Official, a National Park Service official, and Fred Hayes from the OHV Council. I introduced myself, the U4WDA, our services, and what I would like to see in the canyon. I am going to attend their planning meetings each Tuesday (feel free to join me!). Stay tuned for updates!

what time are the meetings?
I work from noon to 10PM so if its before 11am I can make it.

4:30 - 6:30... :(

They did mention the idea of a "field" trip up there to brainstorm ideas. I'm interested to see what they have in mind.

Did anyone go to the Draper City Counsel meeting this last Tues? I was not able to be there because of work. Can anyone tell us what the city might be planning? Were they even interested in our proposals?

Hmmm, I thought I wrote a finalized summary somewhere? (can't find it right now)

Heres the cliff notes version:

The steering committee recommended that the trails be closed to motorized recreation. The amount of private property, city property (park zoning) and the county's conservation easement, etc... didn't leave much room for anything. The issue was magnified by the fact its borderd by Forest Service and Wilderness on one side and a sprawling community on the other side.

The roads won't likely dissapear soon, they will be used as possibly paved roads to future parking lots for hikes, biking, etc. Time will tell but is unlikely we will see anything???
