I'm curious to know more about brazing the holes in the cast... could you elaborate a bit?

As in how its done? or why i did it?

I could of drilled it out bigger and rethreaded it to a bigger zert fitting but that would of been a trip to the hardware store for the zerts. I had these on hand and was wanting to get all parts painted last night when i was working on them at 1 a.m.

When brazing cast you want the metal to be super clean and in the case of rethreading its better to drill it out bigger to remove the dirt and old threads and have a good amount of bronze left when you redrill for new threads. I use a #3 welding tip on my victor torch with some low fuming bare bronze rod and and some powdered flux you dip the rod in.

I'm interested in how it's done. The few times I've tinkered with brazing, it hasn't gone as planned.:(

Pic dump. all the small pieces are back on and lubed up. I had to replace two small set screws on one gear is all. One was missing and the other one i had to beat a torx bit in it and heat it up to back it out.

So i broke off a tooth on a gear that spines the acme thread that raises and lowers the drill table. It still worked with the missing tooth but i repaired it anyway.
I finished cleaning the last of the pieces tonight and got some primer on them.

Powerfeeding through some steering arms with a 3/4" bit.:) We have been using it alot with construction reamers to size the plasma cut holes. Its nice to use with tapered reamers because the drill has 8" of quill travel.
