I have done a crossover steering on the dana 60 in the Blazer. I can't get it to turn all the way to the stops. I need a pitman arm with about 2 or 3'' of drop and about 7'' long. Who has had this problem that might have a solution? Thanks, Wayne

sounds like one for a lifted fullsize Jeep, which I think is the same one as a lifted Bronco????

Sure the link is the right length?????

I'm with Tacoma. Couldn't you tune your draglink to the right length to make it work? (I'm sure I'm missing something, but maybe not?) FWIW, I'm using a stock YJ box and pitman arm.

You should be golden with your GM box. I'm sure that's the same part number as it was on a K30. (unless it had hydro boost?)

I don't think the HydroBoost makes any difference.... ???? Last time I was getting a PS pump I cross-referenced some stuff and I don't *think* the boxes were any different.

SHouldn't affect the turning radius, anyway though.

I continue thinking "Hmmm."

damn, about an inch too short.. typical...

The steering box i've got is from a dodge pick up. it has already been set up for extra hoses for the ram assist. i have placed it beside a 2wd chev box, and the travel is the same. if i disconnect the drag link, the tires can be turned to the stops. it appears that if I had a little extra pitman arm legnth, I could get it to go to the stops. When the Blaze is in the air, I can steer it to the stops. I guess with the droop, the geometry is a little different.

Interesting.

So then the question is:

Which is cheaper and/or easier: purchasing and replacing the Pitman arm? Or fabbing a new draglink?

My money's on the draglink. :D

drag link/pitman arm?

Well, the drag link is still shiny new, and maybe should have a slight bend in it? With 4'' lift, it isn't horizional, but does'nt look to extreme. The pitman arm would be real easy to change if i could get one with the right dimensions. I should find a new hobby, like stamp collecting....

2" drop TJ arm ;)

That with a bent draglink. I copied ORD's as best I could measure from their tiny assed pictures. You are more than welcome to come and measure my set up.

If you drop anymore than that on the pitman you will come in contact with your leaf spring on compression. In fact I can still touch the pitman on the spring if I try real hard.

I talked to you yesterday, didn't I! ;)

So, I won't contribute much to this post, except to ask if you can turn all the way to the stop one direction but not the other? If so, then your draglink is wrong, as others have said. If it won't go to the stop both ways, then my solution remains the same--move the hole in the high steer arm.

I'm running a stock TJ pitman arm and can easily go lock to lock (my tires rub on the control arms way before my steering stops). Not that you have the same setup as I do... But there has to be something stopping yours from working right. Maybe your drag link mount is too far behind/in front of the pitman arm? On mine if you are standing off the side, you can look straight down the drag link to the pitman arm and it is parallel with the tie rod in front of it. I can snap pics if you like...

I am using a 3" drop pitman arm from superlift part number is 1104 I think. It might be too much drop for you though I assume you are using the stock pitman arm. Heres a pic of my arm let me know if you need me to measure it. I have a stock pitman arm from a 2wd so I can see how big a difference it is

You basically need to re-drill the hole for your drag link on the high steer arm. Move it back about an inch towards the diff. and see what happens.
