Dana 60 Under Early Bronco

I am looking at putting a Dana 60 under a 1970 Ford Bronco. Front suspension is Coils and Radius arms. Would like to keep axle full width, just having trouble finding what will work. 1978 and 79 60's sound like the best application as the drivers side "short" is longer than the newer 60's allowing more space for the radius arms. Any suggestions or anyone done this swap already and have some information to share. Anyone selling a 79 or 78 front 60??
Thanks
Aaron

The 86up D60 will work just fine but you have to cut a small amount off the spring purch to weld on the wedges for the Cs or you can go with the cage arms and they have a weld on bracket that fits in between

What radius arms are you using

Fullsizebronco.com has all the info you could ever need for putting a D60 in a bronco

I have an early 90's 60 in mine. Custom brackets and radius arms. I'll see if I can dig up some pics. Works out fine, but the front driveline will be running at an angle....I run a 1350 joint at the dif and a 1410 at the case....no binding.

I have the Cage radius arms currently on it. With the drivers side being so short will it be hard to get the axle centered under the truck?? I have this vision in my head of the axle sticking out farther on the passenger side. Thanks for the input.

Re-read my reply....the pinion will be off center. You center the axle under the truck and the pinion ends up off to the drivers side....not a big problem. I hav had mine up to 70 or so in 4wd set up this way.

thanks for pointing that out, makes sense. anything else you can think of when doing the swap. Steering issues etc etc...

You need at least 3.5" of lift to clear the x-member/oilpan, bump stops are a good idea, you'll have to fab a tracbar mount, I'd suggest a steering arm on the 60 and a custom drag link. It is not a simple bolt in, but if you have some fab experience, a welder, and a chop saw, you can do it.

Give me a call if you need the weld on brackets for your radius arms. Also Ive got one you can take a look at if it helps.
