I'm digging and pouring my footings tomorrow for a 20x16 deck off my house. I have had info all over from 12" round 18" deep to 8" round 30" deep. I cant really find anything on code here in grantsville. I have had some fence posts settle and I don't want it to happen with the deck but don't really want to go super overboard doing manual labor digging holes. What say rme?

30" deep below finished grade for frost depth. Diameter isn't as important as your footings aren't supporting much weight, but personally, I'd do 12" dia. and reinf. to keep them from breaking apart. If you don't have time to have rebar fabricated, wrap some heavy fence wire around (4) #4 or #5 rebar verts.
