For a while now I've been looking for a rear bumper for my 94 FZJ-80 with flairs. Yes I'd like to keep my flairs (or as long as I can).

I have a list of things of things I would like it to do as well as have.

1) Hitch for towing or able to add one to it. Most all non OEM bumpers release liability on the hitch
2) Swing out spindles on each side.
3) Stought pulling points.
4) I want a lip under my tail gate (like factory ones) to help limit the bottom rust and dust if it can. LOL
5) Simple kit to build or have built and ad to as I want.
6) Must protect the sides and the rear from a hard hit.

ARB is the dream bumper.

With a cost of $1600 and change and don't forget shipping. I'd like to see if there is a option that looks as good and has the options I require so the hunt is on.

Tube bumpers are out, they just don't appeal to me as being the look I'm after.

4X4 labs looks good at $495 for the kit and a departure angle being the best I've seen next to tube bumpers.

The cutting of the frame and rear support is a not what I'm excited about doing.

In my search I found a kit that is only 7 pieces and plasma cut and press bent out of 3/16 and 1/4 inch. It looks simple and easy to build. The seller is just getting all the quotes together and the interest is off the wall for the kit at around $400.

This is a prototype in the photo of the first one built for patten and fit changes and doesn't have the pull points set in yet.

I'm not affiliated with this just looking for your advice on this bumper.

I really like the kits cost, simplicity and design. What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I really like that prototype plate bumper, looks like a great option! The price is great too. I agree with your opinion on round tube, especially a 80 Series!

It has knock outs for the swing arm spindles as well. He up graded the wing brackets to 1/4" mounts at the wheel well area. I'm looking forward to the final product photos.

The prototype one you posted is being made by a local cruiser guy... He gets my vote. Plus, you won't have to pay to ship it!
