flat towing

i want to build a tow bar for my 4 runner and need some pointers on length, angle when conected to veichle, just stuff like that

My tow bar for my CJ seems pretty short, but is probably 40-48". I mounted it to the front bumper, with a large steel plate behind attached to the frame for added beef. I try to tow it level, which means I use a 3" rise ballmount on the truck. It seems to work really good. I added a 7-way plug on the front bumper of my CJ and integerated the wiring into the wiring harness, so that the CJ's taillights work when towing, that eliminates the need for extra towing lights.

If your alignment is off especially caster angle it will tow funny.
