Forest Lake Attempt 5-20-06

Cruiseroutfit, myself, and Clutch attempted to make it to Forest Lake today, since it was opening day (within a day or two, anyways) of the gate opening. We had a good time! The river crossing was high, but not as high as it was last year (so far). There was a river running down most of the trail. We probly only got a half mile or so from the river crossing when we were stopped by snow. I more or less got stuck on purpose, figuring the winch will get me out. Not so....winch stalled, sucked my battery dry, and then we had to do a battery swaperoo to get my motor running again. Once I was freed from the snowy prison I could back out in my tracks, more or less. Fun day! Note to self: Bring extra valve stems. There was an XJ with a flat tire that needed one.

We went up forest lake and made it about 150 yards past the end of the 4 wheeler tracks........we ran into 2 TJ's up there probably right where you guys turned around...they were haven fun but not going very fast.....using there winch cables to pull them through..........finally they let us go around them and we blasted the trail as far as we could go and then turned around..the TJ's stayed there to see if they could make it further..I told them good luck!

Then we went up to Mineral basin and went up the trail to snowbird.....that was awesome! we made it about 1/2 way to the lift lodge.....but ran into atleast 3-4 foot deep snow!

Blastin Trail the whole way it was AWESOME!!!

Gotta love the SNOW!

Anyone know this guy?

20 to 30 feet off the side of the road.....

He was coming up the Mineral Basin trail as I was leaving. He almost hit my Cherokee. Seemed like a decent guy though. Somebody in a gold XJ was following him.
