front axle 88 cherokee

i have a 88 cherokee with dana 44's and when im in revers and let odff the brakes my hole axle moves and makes a clanck sound. but still drives strait and fine. any ideas?

.. what suspension do you have in there now? original, leafs, long arm etc :)

If you do have a d44 it will be a non-oem setup so we need some pictures to see what you are talking about.

My first thought is that sounds about normal for a leaf sprung vehicle...

so if you have leafs it is probably fine.

we need some more info and pics would help

i noticed that but i watched it and that's not moving. but i did see that, i will get that fixed this weekend.

Are the upper bushings on the control arms supposed to move?
they look ok, but both seem to move

I know on my hp30 the upper bushings love to move, I bought some better quality replacements to install but keep putting it off. Check all bushings, rod ends, and ball joints. Where are you located? I'm sure one of us can stop by and add an extra set of eyes to the matter while you move the steering wheel and go from drive to reverse with your foot on the brake.
