Fullsize crawler.

This site sure makes me miss home. Been in the USMC for 7 years now, almost done. Decided to post some pics of my rig I've been crawling in Cali since. Owner built: belly pan/control arm mount, radius long arm Y'd fronts w/johnny joints, Ford D60 front king pin hp w/ARB and 4.56 gears, PSC steering pump, rear D60 with Spartan Locker 4.56 gears and Yukon Chromoly axles. NP 241R t-case(4:1 w/factory SYE). Custom front and rear bumpers with Warn xp 9000lbs winch. Custom sliders. Exhaust...etc. Lots more. I don't let anyone touch this truck. Not even to align. I do my own in the driveway. I was a tech before I joined the "Corps" so it makes it easy.

Nice!! Where are those pics taken?

Well, 1st and 4th pic are from a trail called Terminator in the Table Mesa area just North of Phoenix AZ. The second photo is a trail called Bullfrog in the Johnson Valley area, CA. Third is from Calico Ghost Town, CA. Calico has actors in the "preserved" mining town and is great family fun. Small for rock crawling though. The only real trail is called the Duran Loop. The Gatekeeper is the hardest part. You can Youtube it. The fifth pic of from an area called Corral Canyon east of San Diego. The best spot for that place is called the Connector. You can Youtube all of these. I have plans to head up to the Rubicon in October. Hopefully the weather holds up.

Few more pics. I picked up the Pathfinder for my girl right before I left in March. D44 SAS, 4.88s with Calmini 4:1 t-case kit, sitting on 37's, etc. The pics with her red Pathy are up in Big Bear, CA. Trails to run are Gold Mtn, John Bull, Holcomb Creek and Dishpan Springs. All fun trails but John Bull and Dishpan are the most difficult.

Planning on hitting up Moab this upcoming spring for EJS. Would it be worth it? I've heard that the place is so crowded it isn't worth going. One of the magazines has started a "Fullsize" run and I wanted to show my support to the fullsize world. :D

Very nice, ever thought of swapping in a Cummins or happy with the gas motor? As for EJS, we refuse to go because of the crowds but do go down the first or second week of May every year and also a week in October, this is the perfect time to go because the weather is perfect and no crowds with everyone's kids back in school.

Thanks for the comments guys. I figured EJS would not be a good idea. Besides, I'm kinda sick of seeing JK's with the same Poison Spider fenders, Dynatrac 60's and Rubi Express lifts. Just seems like they're all the same. Very capable rig though. Just like seeing some ingenuity in rigs :D. I have thought about doing that Cummins swap since my 5.9 gas is kinda doggish but my home of record is in Woods Cross and I have a hard enough time trying to keep my truck registered. There is no way in he!! that i'm putting Cali plates on my baby! I was thinking about building a 70's Ramcharger next so a Cummins is definitely going in that. I wonder what the weight comparison is? Now you got me started...again! lol

killer rig, I love it. Very tastefully done. I love the way the exhaust exits out the rear bumper for departure. Moab is a magical place anytime of year. If you want to pack the most trails in as possible, I'd pick a different week. if you want to hang out with tons of other people and soak up the atmosphere, EJS offers more of that. I prefer less busy trails, so I've never attended EJS.

Look up a fella named SixStringSteve here on this site. He has a trip planned for the Rubicon sometime this summer or fall. SixString is a hell of a guy and I think he has some folks from this site joining him for the trip.

Thanks LT. My trip is for Sept 5-9th, a little too early for ya. It should be a blast though, I can't wait.

Your quite welcome! Maybe after your trip you will have ideas to offer Ram-on-Rocks. I really geek out on builds that are different. Anyone can build a JK on some 35's. It is a little too bland for my tastes. But, a full size truck (my favorite brand by the way) doing things that others would shy away from, TOO COOL!

Here's some build pics I took when I did the Dana 60 Swap in the front.

Finally got it on 37's! Went back to Toyos, I love them. Also picked up some Raceline beadlocks on a pretty good deal. Swapped in some Skyjacker 5 inch springs and got rid of the 3 inch. Had to move the axle another 1" forward and do some minor trimming. I'll be painting the truck in January with some GCI CARC substitute (OD Green) utilizing a roller. Well, we'll see. I'm going to do my tailgate with a roller and see how it turns out. I don't mind a little texture but I don't want it to look completely like crap. I'll post of pics of that process. Some pics of this little area around by my house testing the trim work and some poser driveway shots of my crawler fam. The Pathy is up on 37's also.
