gearing question

Not enough of a change to make a real difference, IMO. If you're looking to re-gear, I'd consider 4.88's at a minimum. A .50 change in gear ratio will hardly be noticeable.

What are you looking for, better low speed acceleration? Does your 5 speed have an OD? If so, what's the ratio? Do you daily-drive the truck at freeway speeds? Is going with a deeper ratio going to affect the drivability of your truck in a negative way?

What rear axle? Ford 9" axles have a multitude of axle ratios available, so you might be able to find a perfect compromise ratio other than the most common gear ratios.

Im with greg... 4.10 to 4.56 isnt worth the money. My Tahoe had 3.08 gears and 30" tires stock. I regeared to 4.56 with 35" tires and it made a huge difference.

I am swapping out my 8.8 with a 9". For changing the rear it is not going to cost me any extra. I have my choice of ratios for the Detroit Locker. I can stay with 4.10 or go to 4.56 or whatever.

The only "extra" will be the regearing of my front diff w/the Eaton E-Locker.
