Yes, you can. I was running 5.38's in a front axle and 5.29's in the rear. Plenty of people have done it w/o problems, there's a figure that says something like; As long as the ratios are within 1% of each other, you're good. Don't quote me on that, but it's along those lines.

You can run whatever gear ratio you want in your axles. As long as you don't engage 4WD.
