harkinoffs 73 Scout II

Owners Name & City-Randy Harkin, South Jordan, UT.


Make, Model & Year of Vehicle-it started out as a 1973 International Scout II. Tub is now a 1972 RUST free Right hand steer converted back to left hand steering. Homemade rear wheelwells.


Engine- Early seventies chevy 4 bolt 350 stroked to a 383 on Propane (Impco 300a Mixer with Model L vaporizer and 8 gallon forklift tanks) and Gas(stock Q-jet, fed from stock type Polly 16 gallon tank) on Eldebrock performer intake, K&N filter. Exhaust is 2.5" to 3" fed from coated Sanderson blockhugger headers, HEI ignition. One of these days I will install the 383 stroker that I have waiting for it (the current 350 keeps going and going).


Transmission- Chevy Th350, B&M shifter (sucks), and transcooler.


T-Case- Offroad designs Generation II 203/205 doubler kit. The 205 has had a Ford 32 spline front output installed and been twin sticked.


Axles- Front Axle: 1990 Dodge Kingpin dana 60, yukon 488's with lockright. Rear axle: 1977 Corporate 14 bolt, yukon 488's, detroit, rear disk conversion with Caddy calipers, shaved lip, and an antiwrap bar.


Suspension-Front springs: stock 48" Ramcharger Springs with a 2.5" add a leaf. Rear springs: stock 56" chevy rear 1 ton springs with a bunch of leafs removed. Shocks: Rancho adjustable.Wheelbase has been stretched to 106.5". Soon to be in the works is 4 link rear.


Wheels and Tires- wheels:USA 6x6 8 bolt Military Hummer rims recentered to 3.5 " backspacing with PVC inserts. Tires: 38.5x14.50 super swamper SX's.


Winch-Warn 9500TI


Favorite Trails-Love'em all, just love to wheel.


Other- Rocklogic Hydro-assist steering with cooler, Hysteer steering with homemade steering arms with tierod ends (drive on road a lot),
cutting brakes, York onboard air with 7 gallon tank, 2" 120 wall 6 point Cage with seats mounted to it, 1330 rear CV, front driveline is 1350 joints. Hellroaring dual battery kit with redtop optimas(not all installed yet) Homemade soft top with zipper rollup widows.

My niegbor bought this rig a few months ago. Nice machine I cant believe you parted with it. is there another rig in the works or do a few of us need to gather for an intervention.

hope he is enjoying it. I can't believe I parted with also.... Sometimes change is needed. Yes another one is planned. 61' t cab studebaker. Need to go to montana and pick it up soon. My 55' is going to stay a street rig:)
