Hello from Boise

I'm an old forum member returning after years away. I couldn't remember my old info and I think it was associated with a dead email account so I'm all new. I live in Boise, but get to the SLC area regularly. I've enjoyed good tech and classifieds on this forum in the past.

I'm currently building up a 1973 Commando C104. It came with a 304/3-speed. I found a good deal on some axles from a CJ7 (4.56s, TruTrac front, Detroit rear) so I swapped them in and did a SOA at the same time. Due to the offset rear differential (Quadratrac CJ7) I had to improvise. I swapped the guts from a Dana 18 into my Dana 20 case and ended up with an offset rear output and lower gears in the stronger case.

Lots of little things on the to do list. Power steering, electronic ignition, headlight relays, bumpers, cage and on and on..

I found a pair of 35" MTRs yesterday, but now I need to find another pair for a complete set. That's what brought be back here. I'd appreciate any leads you guys could provide. Looking for 15" rim version and something that holds air. Just want to get rolling and I'll hopefully upgrade down the road.

Welcome back!

Love the commando!

I find myself headed that to Boise every now and then and have been known to transport things back and forth to SLC...

let me know if I can help,

Jason from Riverton UT (SLC) looking for close trails where I can take the family on a quick Sunday drive but still do some decent rock crawling.

Looking for others to go with as well with more experience.

I have a brand new 2015 JK and love it, want to learn to use it better but don't want to mess it up :)

Welcome! There are several cool places around the valley to check out, but many are covered in snow till spring. If you head west you could find some areas not too deep for playing in. I'm not sure what you consider "decent rock crawling" but I'd bet you could find your fill out by little Moab, 5-mile, or even above the Bountiful B.
