Hey engine guru's out there quick question. Can you help me decipheran date code on pistons.
Here is the situation we bought a TJ with a blown motor to fix up for my son. We got a block from a guy who pulled his 4 cyl for a motor swap. Our plan was to rebuild that motor and swap it into his Jeep. When we pulled the head off to start to disassemble the cylinders looked beautiful cross hatching all around, almost no wear marks at all and closer inspection it clearly has been rebuilt already and bored out. The piston have .040 marking on them and the 525P marks them as dished pistons made by sealed power. But can't find anywhere to confirm their date code. Take a look at the picture it shows 209-04-02-B which I would guess to be 02/04/2009 but not sure.
We are deciding on whether to just replace the timing chain and lifters and throw it back together or whether to order rings.
