How ‘old’ is your vehicle?

My brother and I worked for a guy who had some rather expensive trucks that were always in horrible condition. Mostly Rams and Kodiaks. We determined a multiplier to get a more accurate milage equivalent for his trucks. Miles on the vehicle x the number of years owned by the guy = real mile equivalent.
100,000 miles x 6 years = 600,000 mile truck. It seemed to be very accurate for his trucks.

I got to thinking today if there is a life age equivalent for vehicles, similar to a dog life / human life comparison. As it turns out, fellow internetters have done the work.
Miles on vehicle divided by the year of the vehicle gives you a human life equivalent.

One of my trucks has 40k and is a 2019. 20 yr old equivalent.
40000/2019=20
Another has 130k and is a 2013. 65 yr old equivalent.
130000/2013=65

What do you think? Accurate?

How do your vehicles compare?

Edited.. I said 'age' of your vehicle.. I meant 'Year' of your vehicle.

100,000 miles on a 2010 = 50 years old
100000/2010=49.7.

By that math, I have two ~87 year old vehicles, a 120 and a 129.

But I don't see what it really means to me. 🤷‍♂️

16,000/2020 makes my truck 7.92 years old? It’s 2 years old with less than average miles on it lol this is dumb.

The idea comes from life expectancy of the vehicle. Everywhere I read says a life expectancy for a car is 8 years / 150,000 miles. This doesn’t make any sense to me, as most of my cars have been bought when they were already more than 10 years old, and over 200,000 miles. Also the average age of registered cars just bumped over 12 years for the first time.
Somethings that I read said a well built car can go 15 years/200,000 miles… but anything over 200,000 is on borrowed time.

So 200,000/2005= 99 human year equivalent. I’d say a 99 year old is on borrowed time.

This is obviously a ‘typical person’ number. As car guys, we tend to run vehicles longer and repair more often instead of trading in when we here a clicking or ticking.

It's "human years equivalent" lol. So your car is old enough to feed itself now.

I personally find this to be bad math. It offers no consideration for elemental wear and tear. You know, car melanoma and stuff. A car with 200k on it that is a 2010 vs a 2020 is only a half year different in age, and that just doesn't fly with me.
