If you could live anywhere in the U.S., where would you live?

I thought this could be an interesting topic. My wife and I are considering relocating, we really like certain things about Utah but are getting tired of the cold winters and nasty inversions. Just curious to hear from people that have lived in other places and really liked it or even if you lived somewhere and hated it.

We have really liked utah for the 3 years we have lived here. But to us, nothing beats the northwest on a nice day. Key word being nice day. We love the Seattle area, I am not much of a city person so I am not to keen on going to down town Seattle but it is a cool place. Only problem is that it can sprinkle for 3 months straight. For weather it would probably have to be san Diego area, but I wouldn't want to move to california for other reasons. Be hard to pick one place for the best of everything, at least for me. If there was more green and hills like the western part of Washington here, I think utah would be a pretty perfect place.

We love UT but I could go to eastern NC pretty easy.

Boise is a cool area, winters are cold but they don't get the snowfall we do. In fact we were quite close to heading to Meridian, ID for a job opportunity.

What about La Verkin or Hurricane, UT?

Yeah, that is for sure. We have spent a bit of time in the PNW this last year and really like it, but I don't think I would enjoy the rain 6 months of the year.

Boise is definitely on our radar, we have family up there and go up there regularly and like it quite a bit. Still cold winters though...

We have also considered the St. George area, we just worry it might feel a little too small town for us.

I really want to retire on the Oregon Coast. I really feel I need to be near the Ocean, working on being able to afford a nice boat someday and settle down somewhere up there.

We love the Oregon coast, we spent 5 days camping on the coast a few months ago and had a great time. I wish I could spend summers on the oregon coast and winters in phoenix...

Basically any place in the good old USA. South Jordan, Riverton, Kansas City, Kansas, Springfield, MO, San Diego, CA, Washington - Oregon Coast.

No where compares to utah in recreational opportunities.

You might convince me to go to northern AZ. Maybe.

I have a counterpart that works out of Portland, he just needs to retire and then I would need a lot of other things to fall in place, including that no one else would jump on it with more seniority.

I am from Tampa Florida and hope to have a home there someday and also a vacation home in North Carolina. It's so pretty there and the atmosphere is great. But for now we'll be stuck in Utah and hope to head south.

Fruita/Grand Junction area would be my choice. Good weather, not too-too crowded. Good access to just about everything I like to do. Big enough to have good medical facilities and such. Affordable. Only downside is the socialist state gov't of Calirado.

Dead on, I love it here. Recreation opportunities abound, Western CO had a very Country feel to it and the people are friendly. Winters aren't bad (snow usually melts off quick), Summers aren't bad either. Moab is 90 min away, San Juan Mountains are 2 hrs... plus all the epic Colorado mountains and towns. No emissions & inspection, the cops aren't nearly as bad as UT cops (UHP, Provo police, etc) IMO.

The Socialist aspect drives us Western CO folks mad... idiots in Denver have the majority vote and the people on the Western Slope get screwed.

I know it might be a bit cliche, but I'd love to live in Hawaii for a while. I have some friends that moved there a few years back and absolutely love it even with the higher prices and tourists.

Outer Banks is a pretty amazing place. I've spent some time in Raleigh which is a really neat area also.

I think our ideal spot is St. George.
