So.. A little history about this Commando, This Commando used to belong to GreatScott's Father Alan, about 15 years ago he sold it, apparently it was sold again and again, until finally we bought it, Alan came to look at the new commando, he says you know that looks an aweful lot like my commando, turns out it was. He had the vin of the old Jeep and we found a stamp on the frame that matched, along with a lot of other oddities.

--> Scott please feel free to interject here.

Putting the motor in, Removed the front cross and re-boxed the frame opened up the firewall a little.

wow............. that is going to be a long motor to put in there..

It's pretty long, I tried to talk him into a bbc/400/205, but he wouldn't go that way, he wanted the injection and a light motor. We're adding a SYE to the transfer case, and streaching the rear about 5" to get a longer rear driveline, it's about 3' now. we cut out the front radiator shroud so we can fit a mustang radiator in it.

A 4.0L is light? I thought they were a little porky.

According to my numbers it's 438 lbs a sbc is about 575, it's about the same weight as a gm or dodge strait/slan 6, not particularly light, it's advantage is more that because it's strait there's ton's of room on both sides of the motor.
